日本で江戸時代から昭和の中頃にかけて暮らしに根付き、

特に関西で愛用されたタイプの、長方形で木製の火鉢です。

炉のまわりに酒器や湯呑などを置ける縁があり、

炉の下や横に引出しなどの収納があります。

炉の内箱は、銅版が側面に施されていますが、

底面には付いていません（木のままの状態です）。

左側の二つの引出の間に、パーツの欠損があります。

〇Features

A charcoal brazier, known in Japanese as “hibachi,” is written with the two kanji characters for “fire” and “bowl.”

This is a rectangular wooden brazier that was a familiar item in everyday Japanese life from the 17th century through the 1940s, and was particularly popular in the Kansai region.

The part of the brazier where the ashes are placed to start a fire with charcoal is called the “Ro,” and this brazier has a rim around the “Ro” where you can place sake cups and tea cups.

There is storage space, such as drawers, underneath or beside “Ro.”

The inner chamber of “Ro”  has copper plates attached to the sides,

but none are attached to the bottom (which remains untreated wood).

There is a missing part between the two drawers on the left.
