「水屋」、今でいうキッチンで使われていた水屋箪笥。

箪笥と言っても、食器棚・収納棚のような存在。

こちらは、水屋箪笥の中でも日常づかいの小さなタイプです。

かつては、同様の箪笥を縦に2段重ねて使われていましたが、

単体で置くと、現代の暮らしにも収まりの良いサイズ感です。

戸板や引出の前板は、ゆらめく水の流れのような木目が美しく現れています。

意匠はシンプルで、板戸に帯状の桟を施したデザインなので、

和室にも洋室にも違和感なく馴染みます。

使い込まれて時を重ねた風合いはそのままに、

メンテナンスで表面の滑らかさを取り戻し、肌触りの良い質感です。

That is why this kitchen cabinet is known as a “Mizuya-dansu.”

This particular piece is a small, everyday-use model.

In the past, similar cabinets were often stacked two high,but when used on its own, it is the perfect size for modern living.

The grain of the wood on the door panels and drawer fronts beautifully resembles the rippling flow of water.

The design is simple, featuring paneled doors with horizontal slats, so it blends seamlessly into both Japanese-style and Western-style rooms.

While retaining the character of a well-loved, time-worn piece, maintenance has restored the surface’s smoothness, resulting in a texture that feels pleasant to the touch.
